Out Run

Out Run is an arcade driving game designed by Yu Suzuki and released by Sega in 1986. Players control a red Ferrari Testarossa Spider and try to reach the next checkpoint, and ultimately the finish line, before the timer runs out. Out Run was notable on release for its pioneering graphics, selectable music, and choice of branching paths.

The original Out Run arcade ran on a Sega’s OutRun hardware, which was the second in the company’s Super Scaler series of arcade hardware. The arcade had a display resolution of 320 x 224 pixels running at 60 frames per second. 1
